Peacemaker, other new festivals – more than fun

As Peacemaker Music & Arts Fest organizers prepare for a stellar slate of performers and a big crowd, a recent panel discussion downtown highlighted the economic value behind Peacemaker and all the new festivals introduced to Fort Smith the past couple of years.

Talk Business & Politics recaps the conversation hosted by the UAFS Alumni Association, featuring John McIntosh of 64.6 Downtown, Samantha Cole with the Fort Smith Marathon, Cole Thornton with Peacemaker, and Orval Smith with the Steel Horse Rally.

The economic impact of the new initiatives is estimated at anywhere between $10 million and $11 million, and the additional value created through a heightened global awareness about Fort Smith.

Members of the panel underscored the importance of private business underwriting of these events, and the value enthusiastic volunteers bring to each initiative.
